Frequently Asked Questions

Key information about the SIP timeline, selection process, preparation, project requirements and its role in the PGDM journey.

SIP Overview & Timeline

What is the Summer Internship Program (SIP)?
The PGDM is a two-year, full-time program that includes a two-month Summer Internship Program at the end of Year 1. The Praxis Placement Program invites companies to conduct the campus SIP selection process and select interns. The internship gives students first-hand experience of the business world, applying the management principles they've learned in their first year.
When does the SIP take place?
Term 3 for first-year students ends in March, after which students join their respective organizations for an 8-week (two-month) internship. SIP placements begin a week after Day Zero (the final-year placement kickoff in November) and continue until the end of February of the following year, so most students have their SIP company confirmed before Term 3 ends.
Is the SIP mandatory?
Yes. Completing the Summer Internship Program is one of the listed eligibility requirements for Final Placements, alongside having no pending fees, no academic backlogs, and meeting a minimum CQPI score of 4.0 out of 8.
Which companies offer summer internships?
Internship partners have included organizations such as ICICI Prudential AMC, Colgate-Palmolive, Aditya Birla Capital, KPMG, Tata Steel, Hindustan Unilever, Mahindra Finance, and FedEx, among many others, spanning multiple functions and sectors.

Selection & Preparation

How are SIP companies/roles allocated to students?
The Praxis Placement Committee (comprising staff and 12–20 student PlaceCom members) runs the entire process: companies are invited to campus for SIP recruitment, students apply to organizations for specific functional roles announced by the company, and selection happens via resume shortlisting, tests, group discussions, and interviews — similar in structure to final placements. Students cannot connect with a visiting company directly without the Placement Committee's permission.
Does the college help students prepare for the SIP selection process and the internship itself?
Yes, extensively. Praxis's placement preparation program (in partnership with a third-party training vendor) includes a dedicated "SIP Success" module: a few days before SIP starts, students get a starter kit to prepare; on Day 1 of the internship, they receive a kit to plan for the best outcome; after 2–3 weeks, each student has a one-on-one session with an assigned industry mentor (matched to their internship area) to review progress, refine the project plan, and get guidance on the behavioral aspects that matter for a PPO/PPI (Pre-Placement Offer/Interview). Broader preparation also includes mock interviews, resume-building sessions, group discussion practice, and case-interview prep — starting from August for SIP-cycle students.
Is there a project or report requirement during the SIP?
Yes — the SIP Success process centers around a company project: students plan the project on Day 1, discuss the project's aim and planned actions with their mentor around week 2–3, and are guided toward a strong, presentable outcome by the end of the internship.

Programme Integration

How does the SIP fit into the overall two-year program structure?
Year 1 (three terms) builds foundational business, soft-skill, and digital-skill capability. At the end of Year 1 (after Term 3), students complete the 8-week SIP. Year 2 begins with students choosing a specialization (Marketing, Finance, HR, Digital Operations Management, or Business Analytics, with further focused career tracks like Data Science or Financial Risk Management) — so the SIP sits as the practical bridge between foundational learning and specialized, industry-ready study.
